ESPN put together a way-too-early power rankings for 2025, and the New England Patriots ranked higher than expected for a team coming off back-to-back 4-13 seasons.

Rankings mean nothing at the moment, but ESPN recently dropped their “ way too early ” power rankings entering the offseason. The Houston Texans, who fell short once more to the No. 1 seed in the divisional round, found themselves in a familiar spot entering February at No. 11.

San Francisco in ESPN’s ranking sits at No. 13 after finishing last year in the bottom 10 of most power rankings. Their jump up is facilitated by a change at defensive coordinator and he prospect of Brock Purdy’s contract extension getting done early in the offseason.

The New England Patriots earned the spot they’re in, to put it mildly. A 4-13 season saw their head coach fired — his only season at the helm — and landing a top-5 draft pick for the second consecutive year.
