Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs lost Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday so the week was already tough for the star quarterback. And then, on Friday, his mother, Randi Mahomes, announced that her father, Randy Martin — Patrick’s grandfather — has died.

The Philadelphia Eagles dominated Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl Sunday night, picking off Mahomes twice and storming out to a 24-0 first-half lead thanks to rookie cornerback Cooper DeJean’s pick-six on his 22nd birthday.

The Kansas City Chiefs got run out of the building in Super Bowl LIX by the Philadelphia Eagles, with the final score settling in at 40-22. Despite that, the team never gave up, with Patrick Mahomes revealed to have made one big request of his team as they trailed early in the second half.

At the midway point of Opening Night, Chiefs captains Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, Nick Bolton, Harrison Butker and James Winchester represented the team on stage, as did coach Andy Reid. The players embraced the Eagles captains, including Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown, while Reid and Nick Sirianni shook hands.

Patrick Mahomes’ father, Pat Mahomes Sr., failed to show up for a drug test, as ordered by the court, two days after the Super Bowl, In Touch can exclusively report. According to court documents obtained by In Touch,

Patrick Mahomes’ grandfather, Larry “Randy” Martin, died five days after the Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes has played in five Super Bowls and won three.

Just days after the Kansas City Chiefs lost Super Bowl 59, it was revealed that Patrick Mahomes' grandfather passed away. Leading up to the AFC Championship, Mahomes' mother Randi was asking for prayers because her father was placed in hospice care.
