Mass., is leading a bipartisan effort to give ByteDance more than to sell the U.S. portion of TikTok before Sunday's deadline.

TikTok plans to shut U.S. operationsof its social media app on Sunday when a federal ban is set to take effect, barring a last-minute reprieve, people familiar with the matter said. The app is used by 170 million Americans.

Incoming National Security Adviser Mike Waltz says the law allows a 90-day grace period for the app's Chinese owner.
