The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for Arya Maldonado, 3, and Alana Maldonado, 2, who were reported missing from Hanford, California.

This article originally appeared on KCRA.com. HANFORD, Calif. — Law enforcement issued an Amber Alert for two San Joaquin Valley children after their mother was found dead. Officials believe the father is responsible for the kidnapping and her death.

The California Highway Patrol on Wednesday issued an Amber Alert for two toddlers who were last seen two days ago in Kings County, north of Bakersfield. Jonathan Maldonado Cruz, 23 — who is considered armed and dangerous — is suspected of taking the 2- and 3-year-old girls named Alana and Arya Maldonado,

The Amber Alert included Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego and Riverside counties, with authorities saying the suspect may have fled to Mexico.

The California Highway Patrol issued an amber alert on behalf of the Kings County Sheriff's Office for the abduction of two children — 3 year old Arya Maldonado and 2 year old Alana Maldonado.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Jonathan Maldonado Cruz is believed to be on his way to Mexico. He is considered armed and dangerous.
