Three ducks died of H5N1 avian influenza at the Queens Zoo, while three more ducks and nine wild birds that died at the Bronx Zoo were being tested for the virus, according to the parks’ operator, the Wildlife Conservation Society.

A red tailed hawk, great horned owl and hooded merganser ducks are among the birds felled by the virus, officials confirmed.

The order affects roughly 80 markets in New York City and in several nearby counties. New Jersey is also asking its live markets to voluntarily clean, disinfect and temporarily close.
