Wethersfield firefighter Robert E. Sharkevich Sr. is being remembered as heroic and a "great mentor" after he was killed battling massive Berlin brush fire.

Wethersfield firefighter Robert Sharkevich Sr. was killed Tuesday after a utility vehicle rolled over on him while battling a brush fire in Berlin and Meriden.

A Wethersfield firefighter died on Tuesday after a UTV rolled over near the scene of a large brush fire on Lamentation Mountain in Berlin. The accident was reported at 5:35 p.m. at the fire’s south end.

Two other firefighters with minor injuries were taken to the hospital, treated and released, the Berlin fire chief said.
