An official in Romania says that the notorious French fugitive who staged a deadly escape that killed two guards last year is being extradited to France from Romania.

Two guards were killed when armed assailants helped Mohamed Amra escape from a prison convoy last May, prompting a high-profile search.

Arrested in Romania and returned to France on Tuesday evening, drug trafficker and fugitive Mohamed Amra has been indicted for 'murder, attempted murder, escape, theft and concealment of theft,' as well as for 'criminal conspiracy.

Mohamed Amra, known as 'The Fly', was extradited to France after being captured in Romania. His escape last year involved the death of two guards, initiating a nine-month manhunt. His arrest concluded with international praise as multiple arrests related to his escape ensued across countries.
