India's Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin on the eve of the BRICS summit that he wanted peace in Ukraine and that New Delhi was ready to help achieve a truce to end Europe's deadliest conflict since World War Two.

In his meeting with the new Iranian President, Mr. Modi discussed the Chabahar port, the North-South Transport Corridor, and the situation in Afghanistan. “The Prime Minister expressed his deep concern over the escalating conflict and reiterated India’s call for the protection of civilians and emphasised the need for dialogue and diplomacy,

"We fully support the early establishment of peace and stability. All our efforts give priority to humanity," PM Modi said.
