The last two jackpot winners won back in August. A lucky California player won a $44.3 million Powerball jackpot on Aug. 19. And the week before, on Aug. 12, a Pennsylvania player won the $213.8 million jackpot. Wednesday's win marks the seventh time someone in Georgia has won the Powerball jackpot.

It was a lucky night for a Powerball player in Georgia who bought the winning ticket worth $478 million. According to the lottery's website, only one ticket sold in Georgia matched all six numbers in the Wednesday night drawing.

In addition to the jackpot winner, two tickets sold in Pennslyvania and Texas matched the five white balls to win $1 million each.
