In his second event after returning from a lengthy absence, Jordan Spieth looked like his old self during the WM Phoenix Open on Thursday. The three-time major winner carded a 3-under 68 on Day One, a round that featured plenty of theater.

The Dallas golfer got out to a solid start in this week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, impressing viewers with an improbable birdie on the sixth hole at TPC Scottsdale. Spieth originally found himself in a tough spot when his tee shot carried to the right and landed in the rough near an obstacle of tree branches.

After being cold on the greens last season and putting poorly last week at Pebble Beach, the 3-time major winner made a change at TPC Scottsdale.

Being injured mostly creates frustrations for golfers, especially when it comes to playing tournaments. The American golfer, on the other hand, does not feel that he missed much, stressing that he missed maybe one or two tournaments in which he would have played anyway.
