Gusty winds have fueled wildfires across North and South Carolina, prompting evacuations including in a community near Myrtle Beach

Wind-whipped wildfires have prompted evacuations of people in the Carolinas as at least 170 fast-moving blazes have scorched more than 4,200 acres of tinder-dry vegetation, threatening homes and businesses Sunday.

Firefighters were battling multiple wildfires that erupted across South and North Carolina overnight amid windy and dry conditions, authorities said.
