Zach Hyman had two goals and an assist for the Edmonton Oilers in a 5-4 win against the visiting Dallas Stars on Saturday night.

Giving the Edmonton Oilers a chance to get a game further than they did last year. Lately, though, it's looked about as likely as Canada sacking the beaver in favor of the bald eagle. And that was before Friday afternoon.

He'll have a tough test Saturday against a Dallas club that sits fourth in the NHL with 3.40 goals per game and acquired Mikko Rantanen in a blockbuster trade from the Hurricanes on Friday.

Mikko Rantanen does not seem to want to stay in Carolina long-term, a place where he does not seem comfortable. Is he not comfortable because the Hurricanes are doing things he does not like, or is he not comfortable because it is simply not Colorado?

Moving aside from the potential Rantanen signing itself, I want to focus on the fact that the Edmonton Oilers were prepared to sign a top end pending free agent and were willing to use 12.5+ million in cap space to do so.
