Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse was hopeful Justin Edwards could return to the team’s lineup for their Monday night matchup against the Chicago Bulls. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case. According to the official NBA injury report,

Joel Embiid has been ruled out for the Philadelphia 76ers' game against the Chicago Bulls on Monday night after undergoing imaging on his knee, but his season is not necessarily over. Head coach Nick Nurse told reporters that,

It makes sense for the Sixers to put themselves in the best position possible for the NBA Draft, but they could show a little more fight than they did Monday.

The 76ers perennial All-Star Joel Embiid took a benching on Saturday. Now his Monday status against the Bulls took a troubling turn.

Embiid had a tough time moving around Saturday in a loss to the Brooklyn Nets. He and the team are considering alternative options, including another surgery, for his knee.

The 76ers fell in a massive blowout to the Chicago Bulls on Monday at the Wells Fargo Center. After at one point building up a ridiculous 50-point lead, the Bulls beat Philadelphia 142-110. It marked the 76ers’ eighth-straight loss, which is now the team’s longest losing streak since 2017.

Nick Nurse told reporters that Joel Embiid was not a participant and will be listed as questionable for Monday’s game against the Chicago Bulls. Embiid did not play the entire fourth quarter against Brooklyn, though Nurse did not attribute that to any injury. The other lineup was simply playing better so he decided to stick with it.
