While playing slave abolitionist Harriet Tubman, who led more than a dozen missions to free others, Erivo won the breakthrough performance award at the 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Film Awards Gala along with getting a Golden Globe nod for the role.

While Erivo is still best known for her work in Broadway and musical theatre, she’s putting it out in the universe that she would love to join the Marvel universe to play Ororo Munroe, a.k.a. Storm.

I really want to play Storm,” Erivo revealed on the carpet for the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City. The actress went on to say that she believes the popular X-Men character hasn’t yet been explored as deeply onscreen as she deserves to be.
