On Saturday at 3:57 a.m. a red flag warning was issued by the NWS Wakefield VA in effect until 7 p.m. The warning is for Northampton, Hertford and Bertie counties.

An updated weather alert was issued by the NWS Wakefield VA on Saturday at 3:38 a.m. for fire danger until 7 p.m. The alert is for Western Currituck as well as Gates, Pasquotank, Camden, Chowan and Perquimans counties.

Across the east there have been some vegetation fires recently and Kinston Department of Fire and Rescue has even issued a “no burning within city limits.” Chief Michael Brown with Red Oaks Fire Department says ENC is in a very high fire danger category,
