The selling pressure continues in the Indian markets on Wednesday for the third consecutive day this week as the bears continuously pull the indices down. The Nifty 50 index opened at 24,378.15, down by 93.

Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session in the red. Nifty 50 closed at 24,781.10, while Sensex ended at 81,151.27.Overnight, Wall Street indices Dow Jones and S&P 500 declined,

The Nifty 50 ended the session with a 0.15% drop at 24,436 points, while the Sensex ended Wednesday's trade with a cut of 0.16% at ₹80,090 points.

Frontline stocks such as ICICI Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, L&T, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, NTPC, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), PowerGrid, State Bank of India (SBI) and Adani Ports contributed to the fall today.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a muted start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 24,550 level, a premium of nearly 10 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.
