Police are investigating after a pipe bomb detonated near a bike trail in Fairfield Monday, officials said. According to the Fairfield Police Department, officers responded to a report of an explosion on Union Avenue near Linear Park Trail around 1:15 p.m.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A pipe bomb exploded in a Fairfield garbage can Monday afternoon. Fairfield Police Department said there were no injuries and that damage was limited to the garbage can's lid. The explosion was reported around 1:15 p.m. in the area of the Linear Trail and Union Avenue.
