The City of Denver is extending its severe weather shelter activation into next week. Denver's Department of Housing Stability activated its Cold Weather Shelter plan on Dec. 30 and has extended it until at least 11 a.

The little bit of flurries Colorado saw earlier in the mountains are continuing to dissipate as the state awaits a bitterly cold weekend.

Extra clouds linger through Tuesday afternoon for the Front Range, with temperatures staying chilly in the upper 30s in the Denver weather forecast.

It is January in Denver and the National Western Stock Show is in town, which can only mean one thing ... cold and snowy Colorado weather is around the corner.
