Judge Aileen Cannon on Tuesday extended the hold she has placed blocking the Justice Department from sharing special counsel Jack Smith’s report on his investigation into President Donald Trump’s mishandling of classified documents with members of Congress.

Judge Aileen M. Cannon’s ruled that special counsel Jack Smith was unlawfully appointed and had no authority to prosecute Donald Trump.

The Justice Department under President Donald Trump moved to drop an appeal by former special counsel Jack Smith in his classified documents case, tying up one of the final loose ends in the case.

In termination letters sent to more than a dozen officials, acting Attorney General James McHenry wrote that he did not believe they "could be trusted to faithfully implement the President's agenda."
