Rest assure there not to much driving around on paved roads here but do go to Cape Poge and walk down to the beach, absolutely lovely. Its a five minutes ferry crossing to get here from Edgartown. Full review by Birgitta-Kenneth

Unprotected from Mother Nature's whims and fury, the beaches of Chappaquiddick fully display the impact that climate change is having on shorelines in the Northeast. According to the Trustees' websi… Full review by HappierInNewEngland

Rent a bike in Edgartown (we really liked Wheely Happy) and take the 2-minute ferry over (I'm not kidding, I think the ferry ride is only 2 minutes). DO NOT TAKE A CAR OVER -- THAT IS DEFEATING THE … Full review by KafkaShore

I believe it is on the map, at least with this tripadvisor map it was on there. Look at a Martha's Vineyard map and Edgartown and its marina / harbor, That large land mass to the right is Chappaquiddick. Zoom into the tripadvisor map where edgartown is located . If not zoomed in it looks like it is attached but there is a small separation. There is a three vehicle ferry that takes you about 300 ft across edgartown harbor. When looking at a Marthas vineyard map look at the right hand bottom corner. That's it. The center of chappy will probably show sampson hill and when zoomed in on a computer just look for the cape page lighthouse which is on Chappy. You need a permit a believe to drive a 4x4 vehicle on the sand to get to the lighthouse. Chappaquiddick road is where the ferry dropps you off, if you follow that for about 5 min, just a guess it will branch off to Dyke road which will take you to Dyke bridge. ( ted kennedy accident ). Hope this helps.

We are thinking of renting here next July (4 adults, 3 kids under 10). We will want to spend a lot of time T the beach, and the idea of less crowded areas on a happy is appealing. However I am concerned about the cost of travelling back-and-forth to the main island over the course of a 10 day stay. We will want to have the odd trip to Edgartown/VH and will also need to grocery shop, but at c $40 a trip for our party of 7 plus 2 vehicles, it will quickly add up! The discount ticket books advertised on the ferry website are for 50+ round trips which is way to many for our stay; does anyone know if smaller books are available? Any advice/info greatly appreciated!

It is pricey to cross and I think you have to factor it in as we asked if there were any deals, discounts, etc and we were told no!
